1. Create a local working directory for the tutorial.

    Terminal

    ```bash
    mkdir aerospike-elastic-quickstart
    cd aerospike-elastic-quickstart
    printf 'features.conf\n' > .gitignore
    ```

2. Copy your feature-key file into the directory and name it `features.conf`. Replace _`DOWNLOAD_DIRECTORY`_ with the directory that holds your downloaded feature-key file. The feature-key file is sensitive, so `.gitignore` excludes it from source control and `chmod 0600` limits access to your user account. This unlocks the change-notification path that carries Aerospike changes to the Elasticsearch index later in the tutorial.

    Terminal

    ```bash
    cp DOWNLOAD_DIRECTORY/features.conf ./features.conf
    chmod 0600 features.conf
    grep -E '^asdb-change-notification[[:space:]]+true$' features.conf
    ```

    The `grep` command must print a line ending in `true` before you continue.

    Your project directory now looks like this:

    -   Directoryaerospike-elastic-quickstart/

        -   .gitignore
        -   **features.conf** Enterprise Edition feature-key file

::: undefined
- I’ve created the project directory.
- I’ve copied and verified my feature-key file.
