Aerospike achieves SOC 2 Type 2 attestation
A SOC 2 Type 2 audit is a rigorous process and is the industry standard for demonstrating the robust security measures cloud-based services have established to protect customer data.
In this increasingly digital-centric age, there are few things more mission-critical for the modern organization than data security. As more of our customers turn to cloud-based solutions to host their real-time applications, one of the most essential questions we are often asked is,
“Can Aerospike safely store our data, and does it have the proper infrastructure to safeguard it from any potential cyber attacks?” Recently, we underwent a data security audit and achieved a SOC 2 Type 2 attestation, a testament to our commitment to cybersecurity and customer trust.
Understanding SOC 2 Type 2: Fortifying cybersecurity for cloud-based providers
A SOC (System and Organization Controls) 2 Type 2 report is a rigorous audit that tests and analyzes our controls and processes to gauge how compliant our systems are to the AICPA’s (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants) Trust Services criteria. The audit encompasses five service principles: security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy. The audit was conducted by independent, licensed CPAs, at the end of which an attestation of robust security controls and measures are made should the audit prove successful. Aerospike is now firmly in that camp.
Transparency in security: The art of trustworthy data management
Achieving a SOC 2 Type 2 attestation is a significant milestone, as it demonstrates our deep commitment to safeguarding data, not just from cyber threats but even internal processes that can cause unwanted data degradation.
Receiving a successful SOC 2 Type 2 audit of our processes and security program is a milestone for Aerospike. The SOC 2 Type 2 audit verifies the design and operating effectiveness of our overall security program and forces us to look hard at our processes, from how we safeguard customers’ data to how we execute in engineering. Customers feel more comfortable when a third party specializing in these audits digs in, releasing them of the requirement to spend additional time verifying how we handle things. Aerospike gains leverage in relying on this report as a standardized way of answering customers’ questions about our processes.
Tom Meese, our VP of Cloud Services, also emphasized the significance of this attestation, stating, “Aerospike’s SOC 2 Type 2 certification is a great milestone achievement and a key step along our compliance journey. This successful audit validates the cross-functional efforts of installed controls and added governance steps across the organization, providing tools that we will use to protect our customers’ data in our high availability systems.”
Reinforcing security in data management with full transparency is a standard Aerospike is proud to uphold and carry forward with the latest SOC 2 Type 2 attestation. As businesses continue to forge digital paths with cloud-based services, our adherence to the stringent AICPA’s Trust Services criteria standards will serve as a benchmark for security and transparency across the industry.
