What is a NoSQL cloud database?

A NoSQL (standing for “non-SQL” or “Not only SQL” and pronounced “no sequel”) cloud database is a database that provides a NoSQL database as a cloud service, either as a hosted service in a public cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc) or as a cloud-native service – also known as Database-as-a-Service or DBaaS. Like any NoSQL database, cloud databases provide a way to store, process, and retrieve data.

A NoSQL or non-sql cloud database provides a flexible, easy-to-use NoSQL solution that one or more of the common data models such as document, key-value, geospatial, object, etc. They provide a heightened level of agility and efficiency for application developers as they are relieved of time-consuming operational tasks such as database installation, provisioning, tuning, patching, updating, and maintenance.
