Last week, we held our third annual Aerospike Summit. In order to ensure the health and safety of our attendees in light of the coronavirus pandemic, we decided to make Summit a virtual event. It’s no secret that the world has radically changed since our previous Summit. As I discussed in my keynote and my most recent Forbes column, the era of the “Digital Imperative” is upon us. Organizations that invest confidently in a digital strategy will adapt and emerge stronger from this unprecedented event — which has impacted every business across the globe. This new reality is forcing businesses to accelerate their digital transformation efforts in order to deliver meaningful customer experiences that have changed, likely forever.
I’m proud of the Aerospike team for delivering a successful event given these challenging circumstances. We had viewers from 35 countries around the world, up from six countries in 2019. Attendance almost quadrupled from our Summit in 2019. Summit attendees were highly engaged; over the three-day event, they watched, on average, almost 12 hours of our 14-hour Summit. This year’s event featured 35 sessions, covering our new product announcements, hands-on training workshops, and keynotes from customers and partners who are building some of the most innovative, modern digital data platforms around the world. The feedback we’ve gotten from attendees around the world has been fantastic.
Ray Wang delivered a terrific keynote on the post-digital shift and how new business models are being developed around real-time “Precision Decisions.” Our partners at HPE and Intel, along with customers Adobe, Schwab, Sony and PayPal, also delivered terrific presentations. They all discussed how Aerospike provides unmatched uptime, predictable performance and scalability while decreasing complexity and total cost of ownership for their mission-critical digital applications. Our Chief Strategy Officer Lenley Hensarling led two fantastic sessions. The first included our Founder and Chief Product Officer Srini Srinivasan and Don Haderle, commonly referred to as “The Father of DB2,” discussing Aerospike’s latest Database 5 product announcements with Multi-Site Clustering — a true industry breakthrough, eliminating the tradeoffs between strong consistency and high performance that legacy relational and NoSQL solutions have forced companies to make. Lenley also moderated a highly attended panel on “Aerospike in Any Cloud” highlighting feedback on our new Aerospike Cloud announcements with experts from Google Cloud Platform, Wayfair and Snap, Inc.
On behalf of Srini, Bill, Tom, Jim, Alan, Lenley and the full Aerospike team, I want to extend our warmest thanks to all of you who attended last week. My thanks as well to our premier sponsors HPE and Intel for helping us make this event a success.
It’s clear we have a very special community, and we don’t take it for granted. We look forward to seeing you next year — virtually or in-person.
