Another Aerospike Summit is in the books. Last week, we held Aerospike Digital Summit 2021, Reimagine Real-time – our fourth annual Aerospike Summit. With virtual attendees from over 40 countries around the world, we hosted three days of keynote sessions, customer presentations, and technical workshops.

Our CEO, John Dillon, kicked off the event talking about what “real-time” means and the importance of real-time data in today’s world, while keynote speaker Guy Kawasaki enlightened us with how to reimagine innovation, break down barriers, and think digitally. Gold Sponsors HPE, Intel, and Western Digital delivered their own powerful presentations, along with customers such as Adobe, The Trade Desk, and Verizon Media, on why Aerospike is critical for their data-intensive applications.

We offered two technical tracks this year with developer-focused sessions and workshops on Data Analytics, cluster deployment with Kubernetes, developing for AI/ML with Apache Spark, and more. Our founder and Chief Product Officer, Srini Srinivasan, announced the launch of Aerospike Database 5.6 and the enhanced Aerospike Connect for Spark during his insightful Day 2 keynote session on Aerospike’s Innovation Agenda and Aerospike Director of Product, Ronen Botzer, discussed how to use expressions to build efficient data-centric applications.

One of the topics we touched on this year was the Internet of Things (IoT). Our customers at Asynos gave a fantastic talk on how the physical things around us are connected and how they are using Aerospike Connect for Kafka to create a high-performance time-series database. Aerospike Global VP of Industry Solutions, Danny Bedgood, also led an engaging workshop on End to End IoT Modeling for Analytics, sharing how IoT insights can be applied to enterprise strategies.

This year’s event also featured two meetups: the first was a Star Wars-themed networking session, May the Fourth Be With You, hosted by Srini, where attendees could meet and discuss key database topics with their peers and ask insightful questions. Our second meetup was a social event to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. Celebrity chef Fabio Viviani joined us to share a delicious recipe for Italian tacos and guaca-liano, as well as some fun cooking tips and tricks.

We concluded the event with a special keynote session with Don Haderle, commonly referred to as “The Father of DB2,” and Srini as they sat down to discuss the future of real-time data platforms.

Aerospike Digital Summit 2021 was our most successful event yet and could not have been possible without all of you who attended. We look forward to seeing you again at next year’s event.
